Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival 2007
The annual Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center will run from July 29 to August 23, 2008 and feature more than 35 events — including concerts, a late-night Latin jam, a film series, dance, and a visual art installation.
In recent years, the Mostly Mozart Festival has expanded its focus beyond the music of Mozart and his contemporaries. In 2008, Mostly Mozart welcomes composer-in-residence Kaija Saariaho, whose stunning oratorio La Passion de Simone will receive its U.S. premiere.
Highlights of the 2008 Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center will include:
Samoan-born theater-artist and choreographer Lemi Ponifasio’s magnificent Requiem
Australian artist Lynette Wallworth’s installations that connect the viewer with the natural and virtual world through touch and technology
The auspicious debuts of a new generation of conductors, including twenty-something French phenom Lionel Bringuier and British sensation Edward Gardner
The returns of such revered artists as the Emerson String Quartet, and pianist Garrick Ohlsson.
