International African Arts Festival 2008

Started as a modest fundraiser in 1971, the International African Arts Festival at Commodore Barry Park is now a five-day event with dance performances, music and spoken word programmes, as well as over 200 art and craft stalls displaying work by local, national and international artists. Past performers here have included Lauryn Hill and hip-hop ensemble KRS-1 and the event now draws over 75,000 attendees each year.

By Subway: F train to York Street. Leave the station and turn left up Jay St, then left on Sands. Walk down the hill and turn right on Navy St – the park is a block away on your left.
