The largest mass cycling event in the USA takes off from Battery Park in Manhattan and travels through the five boroughs of New York City on 42 miles (68km) of traffic-free streets, avenues, highways and bridges.
The route passes through Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island, then crosses the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge – the world’s longest single-span suspension bridge – and returns to Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry.
Why not celebrate the joy of cycling with 30,000 other riders. Afterwards there is a tour-ending festival at Fort Wadsworth in Gateway National Recreation Area on Staten Island, with live music, food and exhibitions.

2008 Schedule
6:30-7:45 a.m.: Tour lineup. Head toward Battery Park, in Lower Manhattan, and follow the marshals’ directions.
7:45-8:00 a.m.: Opening ceremonies with city officials and others at the start stage.
8:00 a.m.: The ride starts! The Commerce Bank Five Boro Bike Tour moves through the five boroughs on a timetable. The front of the Tour travels at 15 mph and the tail at 6 mph. Cyclists who fall behind are given the option of either boarding SAG vehicles traveling at the tail of the Tour or leaving the Tour as the route permits.
11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.: Festival at Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, with finish at the Staten Island Ferry
