DanceAfrica is a heritage and community celebration centered on the diverse dance forms of the African Diaspora held each Memorial Day weekend at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). Included are live music, a film series at BAM Rose Cinemas, master classes, a student-artist sculpture garden, education programs, and an outdoor bazaar.
Now in its 32nd year, DanceAfrica, guided by the inspired, creative vision of Artistic Director Chuck Davis, unites dance companies from across the nation to shake the Opera House stage.
This year Washington DC-based percussion orchestra Farafina Kan-the "sound of Africa"-shares the history and spirit of West African music; New York group SeeWe African Dance Company uses African rhythms and instruments to enlighten audiences; Brooklyn-based Evidence, A Dance Company fuses traditional African dance with contemporary movements and spoken word; and the BAM/Restoration DanceAfrica Ensemble from Bed-Stuy performs for the thirteenth straight year at BAM. A Memorial Day weekend tradition, DanceAfrica is packed with dance, music, art, and film events-plus the one-and-only DanceAfrica outdoor bazaar.

BAM is within walking distance from the 2,3,4,5,Q, N, R, M, G, B, D and C trains.
The ethereal Tribute in Light memorial was designed to help lessen the aching loss felt across the country since 9/11. It is a profound symbol of strength, hope and resiliency.
The New Yankee Stadium
New Yankee Stadium is the working title for a new stadium for the New York Yankees, currently under construction. It will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues.
