Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival

A major festival fixture in New York’s calendar since 1966, shortly after the Lincoln Center had opened, the annual summer jamboree that is the Mostly Mozart Festival takes over Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall (closed for renovation in 2007 and 2008) as well as the Rose and New York State Theaters for four weeks every late July and August.

Manhattan’s Jewish Museum presents an exhibition examining how art about Israel has changed since 2000, when a prolonged period of conflict between the state of Israel and the Palestinians, the Second Intifada, began. Forty-eight works by 23 artists examine the common identification between Israel and conflict, combining landscapes, reportage, portraits, photography and video in a comprehensive artistic review.

The Guggenheim presents an examination of the Italian Divisionists and their relationship to Neo-Impressionism. Around 40 paintings demonstrate the distinctive painting style which stems from colour theory and optics, and by which dots and dashes are built up to create complex paintings.
