Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), the biggest fashion party of the year, will return to New York City on September 6th. More than 1,000 stores, in New York City alone, will take part in this extravaganza. Eighteen countries in total – including the U.S. – and retailers in more than 250 cities across the country will be celebrating FNO. The goal of FNO is to celebrate fashion and shopping, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. Stores will keep their doors open late offering steep discounts, drinks, free manicures, makeovers, contests, gift bags and lots of incentives to get people to open their wallets. Fashionistas get to mingle with celebrity guests and get fashion advice from some of the top designers in the industry.
Also, no need to walk around from one store to the next in your Stilettos. You can get around FREE on a hop-on, hop-off Gray Line Double Decker bus.
Participating retailers are hawking the official 2012 Fashion’s Night Out collection of shirts and bags starting at $25, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the New York City AIDS Fund. The Empire State Building also dresses to impress with red lights for the big night.
Some notable events at Fashion’s Night Out 2012 include:
– Meet Carmen Marc Valvo and Matchbox 20 and check out new goodies from Marc Jacobs, Lady Gaga, Thomas Pink, at Bergdorf-Goodman (754 Fifth Avenue).
– Get styled by What Not to Wear’s Stacy London, sip champagne, and nibble on macarons at New York and Company’s (58th St and Lexington Avenue).
– Spend time with Kim Kardashian, and reality star Jill Zarin and Olympic skater Kristi Yamaguchi at Lord & Taylor (424 Fifth Ave., at 39th St.)
– Alexis Bittar’s SoHo Boutique (465 Broome St., at Greene St.) throws a karaoke party where those brave enough to take the mic score a $50 store gift certificate. Free cocktails provided.
– Men can get in on the action too at Macy’s third-floor man-cave to roll cigars, sip brandy and get their shoes signed before meeting the Knicks City Dancers.
– Walk the red carpet at Rockefeller Center and enjoy free fashion shows and live music by We Were Promised Jetpacks, and The Lonely Forest.
– Solange Knowles deejays Diane von Furstenberg’s party hosted by “Girls” star Allison Williams. A palm reader is also on-hand to tell fashionistas’ fortunes.
– Foodies can get some kitchen tips from “Chopped” chef Marc Murphy at Bloomingdale’s, which also boasts “Gossip Girl’s” Kelly Rutherford and designer Carmen Marc Valvo.
– Win big prizes by shopping in Times Square. Times Square retailers are celebrating Fashion’s Night Out with special events, exclusive offers, giveaways and more.
Those who wish to avoid the crowds can still be part of Fashion’s Night Out by taking advantage of discounts online, as more than 200 e-tailers have also joined in on the action.
