New York Water Taxi
New York Water Taxi is a water taxi service offering commuter and sightseeing service mainly to points along the East River and the Hudson River. It should not be confused with the Liberty Water Taxi, a separate service that also operates on the Hudson River.
New York Water Taxi operates a fleet of 9 vessels of three distinct types. Most of the vessels are named for, the “unsung heroes of the New York harbor” according to the company. The Seymour B. Durst, Ed Rogowsky, and the Sam Holmes are each capable of carrying 149 passengers at a speed of 26 knots. The Curtis Berger, Mickey Murphy, John Keith, Schuyler Meyer Jr., and the Michael Mann are each capable of carrying 74 passengers at 24 knots. The American Princess is capable of carrying 250 passengers. All vessels except for the American Princess are twin-hulled, and can sustain massive amounts of abuse from the elements.
