Radio City Christmas Spectacular 2007
09 November – 30 December, 2007
A spectacular show at the dazzling 1930s art deco landmark Radio City Music Hall, this music and dance revue has been going strong since 1933, making it staple Christmas fodder along with The Nutcracker, the turkey and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. It’s kitsch, gaudy, festive and America’s most popular show.
The main stars are Santa Claus and the leggy chorus line, the Rockettes, who act out a series of songs and dances along with a full cast. Old favourites are the ever-popular Parade of the Wooden Soldiers and The Living Nativity.
Radio City Christmas Spectacular Tickets
The Rockettes, for the uninitiated, are a traditional chorus line of 150 high-kicking dancing girls. They recently celebrated their 75th birthday (collectively) by adding a few new numbers to the show, which otherwise hasn’t changed in over 60 years.
Over a million flock to the show each year, both in New York and in other cities across the US. In New York, the show runs for nine weeks over Christmas.
