Crobar

Part of a chain of clubs that also have residencies in Chicago and Miami, Crobar is a superclub that harks back to the heyday of New York clubbing. The bar area at the front of the club has some seating and a small stage, but it's the cavernous dance floor and its balconies that grab the attention. Other highlights include an art gallery and a mock subway tunnel that fits in with the old school atmosphere. The music is as diverse as the crowd, ranging from house to hip-hop depending on the night.
Address:
530 West 28th St. (between 10 and 11th), New York
Hours:
Thu, Fri, Sat, and Sun only
Directions
Between 10th and 11th Sts.
By Subway: C, E at 23rd St.

Beauty Bar

Beauty Bar, once a hair salon and sister to the equally quirky Barmacy, is one of the most amusing and kitsch drinking and sometime-clubbing experiences in the city. Kick back in an old barber's chair, slip your head beneath a 1960s hairdryer and order yourself a good strong cocktail.
Address:
231 E 14th St
Hours:
Mon-Fri 5pm-4am; Sat & Sun 7pm-4am
Directions:
By Subway: 4, 5, 6, N or R to Union Square; L to 3rd Ave.

Starlight Bar and Lounge

One of the most popular and trendy gay venues in New York, the Starlight is a funky mix of Chelsea boys and East Village artistes. A crowded bar area gives way to a mellow back room to sit and relax with friends. There are DJs every night of the week from 10pm. Highlights include Friday's mix of dance and soulful house and Saturday's eclectic hotch-potch of pop, dance and R&B. Wednesdays boast a comedy night and Sunday nights is Ladies Night - one of the most popular lesbian nights in the city.
Address:
167 Avenue A, NY
Hours:
7pm-4am
Directions:
The bar is situated between 10th and 11th Sts.

Tribute in Light

The ethereal Tribute in Light memorial was designed to help lessen the aching loss felt across the country since 9/11. It is a profound symbol of strength, hope and resiliency.

The New Yankee Stadium

New Yankee Stadium is the working title for a new stadium for the New York Yankees, currently under construction. It will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues.

The Bronx

In popular culture 'The Bronx' has often symbolized violence, decay, and urban ruin. In fact, there are guidebooks that say you must never go to the Bronx! Sheer ignorance, that is all we have to say!
