New York International Children’s Film Festival 2008
29 February – 16 March 2008
The annual New York International Children’s Film Festival is a treat for all ages, though it is aimed at the three-to-18 age group. So grab a kid and get the lowdown on the latest in children’s cinema at Manhattan’s IFC Center.
The festival has been growing in stature since it began back in 1998 as a meagre two-hour shorts screening. Today, it pulls in hot new films and attracts a rewarding line-up of filmmakers and celebrities with a feast of flicks from around the world, new features, shorts and videos. Filmmakers are on hand to discuss their work after the screenings, and audience members vote for award-winners. There are also numerous sidebars and retrospectives outside the main programme.
