Arts of Pacific Asia Show in New York

Other events in March 2011

24-27 March 2011
The Arts of Pacific Asia Show features exquisite items from over 65 leading international galleries specialising in Asian art. Both rare and ancient artefacts and contemporary art are on sale at Manhattan's Gramercy Park Armory.
he collection encompasses many styles and mediums, including bronze sculpture from Tibet, where the art of metal-casting is a centuries-old tradition. Also featured at the Arts of Pacific Asia Show in New York are a series of Zen paintings from Japan. Although the religion itself did not encourage artistic endeavour, painting in the brush and ink calligraphic style became a way for the monks to illustrate enlightenment.
China is represented at the Arts of Pacific Asia Show with collections of embroidered robes, porcelain and jade dating from the rule of Emperor Ch'ien Lung of the Ch'ing dynasty. Technical advances at this time allowed for elaborate carving across a broad range of motifs. The collection features works from over 2000 years of Asian heritage and is a beautiful selection of hand-crafted pieces.

The ethereal Tribute in Light memorial was designed to help lessen the aching loss felt across the country since 9/11. It is a profound symbol of strength, hope and resiliency.

The New Yankee Stadium

New Yankee Stadium is the working title for a new stadium for the New York Yankees, currently under construction. It will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues.

The Bronx

In popular culture 'The Bronx' has often symbolized violence, decay, and urban ruin. In fact, there are guidebooks that say you must never go to the Bronx! Sheer ignorance, that is all we have to say!
