New York City in Deep Freeze
New York City in Deep Freeze
New Yorkers today got a taste of how polar bears and penguins feel like living on the North Pole!!
Temperatures in Central Park dipped to 4° F breaking an 118 year old record for the lowest recorded temperature of the day set in 1896!!
Wind chills make the temperatures feel much lower, upto -20° F. Any exposed skin can freeze in as little as five minutes at these temperatures.
The deep freeze has caused many flight cancellations and delays in other transportation modes likes trains and buses.
If you happen to be visiting New York City during this deep freeze, we suggest you choose indoor activities until the weather warms up.
Our suggestions:
- Visit Museums
- Shopping
- Sightseeing Bus Tours (these buses now have clear windows so you can be warm)
And if you do have to be outdoors, it’s very important to cover up all exposed skin – hat, scarf, gloves and all. The best way to stay warm is to dress in multiple layers. This method will keep you warmer than wearing just one heavy coat.
