New York Shakespeare Festival 2007
“Shakespeare in the Park” is an annual theater festival held in the summer in New York City’s Central Park. Tickets to Shakespeare in the Park are always free, which contributes to the popularity of the event. Long queues for the free tickets are common sights near the Great Lawn of Central Park, particularly during the end of a show’s run and during productions with big name stars. Patrick Stewart, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Jimmy Smits, Allison Janney, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Kline are among the actors who have graced the Delacorte stage in recent years.
2008 Schedule
Hamlet – starring Michael Stuhlbarg, Sam Waterston, Lauren Ambrose, Andre Braugher and Margaret Colin – is the first summer offering at the Delacorte, running May 27-June 29.
The second production is a fully mounted revival of Hair. Diane Paulus returns to direct the cast of the 2007 Delacorte concert staging that includes Jonathan Groff, Will Swenson, Patina Renea Miller and Allison Case, July 22- Aug. 31.
