The 81st Annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting 2013 takes place on Dec 4th. The event will be telecast live from 8 to 9 PM and the actual Tree Lighting will happen at 8:55 PM. With the flick of a switch, a large Swarowski crystal star and thousands of multi-colored lights will come to life on the World’s Most Famous Christmas Tree.
The star-studded Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting 2013 ceremony will feature performances from many artists including Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Goo Goo Dolls, Ariana Grande and Jewel.
The television stations will also broadcast a one hour recorded pre-show starting at 7 PM followed by the live telecast of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting 2013 starting at 8 PM.
The tree will be up through January 7th, 2014 and will be lit from 5:30 AM to 11:30 PM every day except Christmas Day and new Years Day. On Christmas Day, the tree will be remain lit 24 hrs and on New Years Eve, the lights will be turned off at 9 PM.

Tips from NewYork-Visit:
– Take Mass Transit. The B, D, F and M trains to 47-50 Rockefeller Center Station will let you off right next to where the Tree Lighting ceremony takes place.
– Arrive early. The event begins at 8 PM, but with nearly 300,000 spectators expected to attend the lighting, you should plan to arrive by at least 6 PM if you want to get a good spot.
