Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2013
The 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2013 will take place today starting at 9 AM. The parade begins at 77th Street and Central Park West and makes it’s way down 6th Avenue, before coming to a conclusion at Macy’s Herald Square.
The best spots to watch the parade are uptown, just a few blocks down from 77th Street where the parade starts. 60th to 69th Streets offer great views with relatively lesser crowds. It’s a bad idea to go to 34th Street near Herald Square since the view from there is not good unless you were able to score a reserved seat in front of Macy’s.
Thanksgiving day in NYC is expected to be windy with wind gusts of up to 40 miles / hr. The bigger balloons like Spiderman, Spongebob and Snoopy might have to be grounded if there are sustained winds of 23 mph and gusts of more than 34 mph. The final decision will be taken early Thursday morning whether the big balloons will fly or not.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2013 features appearances by Jimmy Fallon, Ariana Grande, the Goo Goo Dolls, Fall Out Boy, The Robertson Family from Duck Dynasty, Kellie Pickler and many more.
If you are planning to head out to watch the parade in person, we suggest bundling up since it’s a chilly morning with temperatures hovering near the freezing mark, but winds making the feel temperatures go as low as 17° F.
We wish all of you a Very Happy Thanksgiving!!
