November - December, 2007 Macy's Department Store at Herald Square hosts its annual Christmas extravaganza. A spectacular 12,000 square feet of the eighth floor is bedecked in twinkling lights, sparkling stars and outsized lollipops to create Santaland.
Helpful elves guide visitors along a journey through Macyland Express, past the Enchanted Forest - and the Grover and Ivy husband and wife team of talking trees - beyond Santa's Holiday Magic Show Wagon, loaded with sweets, toys and gifts, to the Rock Candy Mining Site, then over Rainbow Bridge to interactive patisserie, The Sweetery.
The senses are further tantalised at Tasty Town, before visitors move on to a movie theatre showing holiday classics, then the CIT (Checking it Twice) Institute divides up the crowds into "naughty" or "nice". Finally, the path leads to Santa's home - a country cabin bedecked in garlands, ornaments and bows. At the end of the visit, each child receives a gift specially chosen by Santa Claus.
